24th JANUARY 2012 : ACP Fish II NETWORKING MEETING AND RECEPTION IN SUVA, FIJI
The theme of the Meeting wich will be held at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay is the “Importance of policy and legal frameworks in the proper management of fisheries resources in waters under national jurisdiction in the Pacific Region”.
Opening remarks will be done by the Fiji Permanent secretary for Fisheries and Forest, Mr Viliame Naupoto and the ACP Fish II Regional Manager Augustine Mobiha.
A national, regional and international approach to the subject will be exposed through the presentation of 3 keynote speakers :

How Fiji sees the use of the Revised Fiji Fisheries legislation to enable sustainable fisheries resources use in the country and prevent illegal fishing practises (Mr. Sanaila Naqali)

How an efficient legal and Policy framework will contribute towards sustainable fisheries resources utilization and how the ACP FISH II project implemented in RMI would assist RMI in doing that (Mr. Glen Joseph)

Using the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries in the review of fisheries and aquaculture policy and legislative frameworks (Mr. Blaise Kuemlangan)
At 7.00 pm, the Meeting will be followed by a cocktail reception for all participants and press.
